New Dangerous Game Sees Children As Young As 10 Jump Off Jetties On Scooters

Authorities are now alarmed after a risky new online trend sees children as young as 10 jumping off jetties on scooters, with some ending in disaster.

Authorities revealed that the dangerous game has resulted in a record number of spinal injuries from jumps gone wrong.

Some boys on scooters in the Holdfast Bay Marina in Adelaide have recorded a footage of them doing the game, where one by one, they jump off the side of a jetty while on scooters.

The boys egg each other on until they jump off into the water.

While authorities are infuriated with the act, other young people are impressed by it. “Looks fun to me,” one said. This despite knowning that the stunt could hurt him. “Yeah, I might get rid of a couple of teeth by hitting them on the bars, but you’ll be ‘right,” he said.

However, Michael Robran, who played the game and whose jump ended in disaster, is now suffering from a broken neck.

Warning signs have been placed in Glenelg Jetty but are seemingly ignored as kids still line up on Thursday to jump off the jetty after learning that despite the threats of fines, none have been penalised in five years.

Sonya Williamson of Surf Life Saving SA said they are desperate in trying to stop the youth from engaging in this dangerous game. “I honestly don’t know what more we can do,” she said. “We ask that people please, please don’t let a trend change your life for the worse.”
